Nice juxtaposition of stories on this morning's Good Morning Wales. First up was the news that an investigation is being launched over claims that police corruption helped shield the killers of black teenager Stephen Lawrence from conviction. The murder in 1993 was, and remains, one of the most horrific and infamous racist crimes in recent British history and still serves as a reminder of what needs to be done to tackle ingrained racism in both the police service and British society at large.
This was followed by a report that the Advertising Standards Authority has rejected 81 complaints from members of the public that their recent campaign, showing South Wales miners digging for Pot Noodle, was "racist" towards the Welsh.
The 81 people offended by a light-hearted advert should go and meet Stephen Lawrence's family and learn what racism really is.
Right, serious bit over. I promise to return to ill-informed tittle-tattle about obscure AMs in the next post.
