A comment writer on my previous blog claimed I wished I were Richard Littlejohn. Not true - I wish I were Mark Steel of The Independent. Here's his take today on Foreign Office Minister and Pontypridd MP Kim Howell's weekend comment that "Israel should have a better relationship with the places it occupies":
Aaah, how sweet, the old hippie. It ought to be a general rule that when you've occupied somewhere you always try to engage in a little light repartee with any survivors that emerge from the rubble, then everyone will get along so much better. Once Howells has sorted out Israel he should turn his talents to domestic affairs, stating: "Violent men must try to get on better with the wives they've beaten."

Find a better role model. Mark Steel is a robotrot of the worst kind. Years of slavishly following each u-turn of the humourless, "democratic centralist" SWP have rendered him about as funny as a blocked fire exit in a hospice.
