Not specifically to do with Wales, admittedly, but it's been a quiet few days...and at least this article from today's Sun provides an illuminating insight into the erudite reporting of European Union affairs by Her Majesty's Fourth Estate.
According to the Sun:
NUTTY EU officals want to rename Bombay mix MUMBAI mix - to make the snack politically correct.
Oh, really? Do go on.
They say the Indian city of Bombay has been called Mumbai since 1995 so the old name could offend because it dates back to colonial rule.
Accompanied by the Sun's "You couldn't make it up" logo, it even quotes newsagent Khalid Ahmed from Canterbury - presumably someone fully engaged in European affairs - who describes it as "crazy".
Remarkably, though, there appears to be no record of it at all on the websites of either the European Union, Parliament or Commission. And a quick call to Simon Duffin, UK press officer for the European Parliament, yields this response:
We've searched high and low for where the hell it's come from and haven't got a clue where they've got it from. They quote a "source" but I don't know who that is. We've searched around for a likely press release but haven't found that either. I have no idea what they're talking about.
Hats off to Wapping's finest!

Try using the word 'Mumbai' in Mumbai, and the first response you get is a blank stare, quickly followed by a big grin and 'oh yes you are meaning Bombay yes?'
