This press release from Conservative Chair in the Assembly, William Graham, popped into my inbox earlier this morning. Does anyone have a clue (a) what he is talking about, (b) what point he is trying to make or (c) precisely how his press officer retains employment?
RHODRI MORGAN LOSING IT
PETER HAIN SHOULD MAKE A STAND
William Graham (Chief Whip & Chairman of the Conservative Group at the National Assembly for Wales) responding to First Minister calling for the Prime Minister to clarify his departure timetable said:
"Politicians and political commentators have universally acknowledged Tony Blair's announcement that he would 'stand down' before the next General Election' was a major mistake that has overshadowed his final days in government".
"Rhodri has demonstrated his weariness and failing political vision".
"Tired people often attempt to distract attention from their own failings by getting people to focus on the blunders of others".
"He outlines the distraction caused by the Prime Minister's retirement plans, then in a parallel act of political naivety plunges Wales into the very same position, and lays himself open to a future Labour Leader and Welsh Labour MPs to demand the same clarity of action from the First Minister".
"Rhodri's comments about 'a magic recipe of mushy peas and guacamole' illustrate he should drop his improvisation of the lyrics of the Richard Harris song "MacArthur Park - Someone left the cake out in the rain, And I'll never have that recipe again" and listen the Rolling Stones latest single "I think I've just made the biggest mistake of my life".
"Peter Hain has a unique opportunity to demonstrate he is a politician and stature and commitment by leading the campaign for an "all female shortlist" for the Labour Deputy Leader election".
