Sundays bloody Sundays

The advantage of working late on a Saturday night when there's nothing going on and the paper's finished and you've already Googled your own name 14 times and Match of the Day's on later than usual and all your friends are in the pub is that you get to see what the London Sundays are up to earlier than everyone else.

Unsurprisingly, Blair and Brown dominate the heavyweight papers. The Sunday Telegraph leads with Brown vowing to take on any challenger for the Labour leadership and saying he "welcomes" a contest to replace Tony Blair, while the News of the World goes with Blair "desperately trying" to end the war in the Labour Party yesterday, telling supporters: “It’s over" (their splash, however, involves Chris Tarrant "snogging a busty blonde in a bar").

More interestingly, the Sunday Times leads on "Gordon, the golf hotel plotter". Apparently Brown was visited at his Fife home by Tom Watson, the obscure defence minister who resigned last week, before he signed the notorious letter asking Blair to stand down. Even more interestingly, the paper also carries an article by arch-Brownite Harriet Harman, who says the war in Iraq has become a “symbol of mistrust and division” between the Labour leadership, party activists and voters.

The People claims that Brown has already pencilled in May 7, 2009, as the date of the next General Election (Brown, of course, is notorious for leaking stuff to The People), while the Sunday Express claims Brown is set to tax eating out...

In the unlikely event you're reading this on Saturday night, I'll be on Radio Five Live in a few hours time giving my uniquely ill-informed take on the whole Labour fiasco from a Welsh perspective.
