You can't get more Welsh than John

The blog that's last with all the news has belatedly come across the campaign leaflet for John Davies, their candidate in Ceredigion on May 3. You can't more Welsh than John, he says. He's a first language Welsh speaker! He was president of the Welsh Young Farmers! You couldn't be more Welsh if you were Max Boyce clutching a leek and singing Sospan Fach!

It's clearly a big deal to him. Wonder how the leaflets went down with his MP Mark Williams (from Hertfordshire), or his South Wales West AM Peter Black (Merseyside)? Or South Wales West candidate and Englishman Frank Little?

Fair play to John, I say. His leaflet was fab and he got a brilliant result. I'm sure Mark, Peter and Frank had no issue with John saying he's proud of his Welsh roots, why should they??

Poor old John Davies only attracted 38% of the votes and was easily seen off by Plaid Cymru's Elin Jones.
Clearly his suitability as a candidate was limited to his impeccable Welsh credentials !!

If Plaid had spun such a line, the Libs would have gone straight for the race card. Fortunately, Plaid endeavour not to stoop so low as to be a Lib Dem
