Ah - so now we know why Liberal Democrat Scotland spokesman Alistair Carmichael has been so fascinated in recent weeks in the workings of the Wales Office - he's been looking for comparisons so as to embarrass the Scotland Office.

Mr Carmichael today branded the Scotland Office “the most pointless department in Whitehall” after new figures showed a huge increase in hospitality spending - the department’s spending on entertainment went up by a third last year to more than £23,000, according to answers to Parliamentary written questions. Despite powers being devolved to the Scottish Executive, the department continued to employ 20 policy officials and two press officers.

You can read the full press release here. Wales on Sunday looked at similar figures from the Wales Office back in February - with Plaid's Westminster leader Elfyn Llwyd branding it "a laughable waste of money".
