The issue of prostitution - and its inevitable by-product, people trafficking - has been a big one in Wales of late, not least after a woman who ran four brothels escaped a jail term after a judge ruled that "no-one was harmed". An Amnesty report on trafficking in Wales last year provided a snapshot of the extent of the issue and highlighted the inadequate protection given to victims. And just two days ago Cynon Valley AM Christine Chapman called a debate on prostitution in the Assembly, attacking the cliché of it being "the oldest profession in the world" or that "it has always been with us and always will be".
Ideal time, then, for new Cardiff club night Phatlace to launch, with the theme of its first night being 'pimps and hoes'. "We want everyone to get into character," says organiser 'Matt the Hat'. It's probably, like, irony, yeah?
